← Arjuna's Dilemma

Bhagavad Gita 1.25

Sanjaya speaking to King Dhritarashtra

भीष्मद्रोणप्रमुखतः सर्वेषां च महीक्षिताम्। उवाच पार्थ पश्यैतान्समवेतान्कुरूनिति ॥

bhīṣhma-droṇa-pramukhataḥ sarveṣhāṁ cha mahī-kṣhitām uvācha pārtha paśhyaitān samavetān kurūn iti

Over against Bhîshma, Drona and all the rulers of the world, said: "O Pârtha, behold these Kurus gathered together."

In plain words: Krishna stops the chariot right in front of Bhishma, Arjuna's great-grandfather figure, and Drona, his old teacher, along with many kings. Krishna says, "Arjuna, look at all these Kurus gathered here." Partha is a name for Arjuna, and the Kurus are his family clan.
