← Krishna and the serpent Kaliya

Vishnu Purana 5.7.8

And the wives of the other cow-herds stricken with grief and weeping, saw him; and with words expressive of fear and affliction, they, out of love towards Keshava, said—"We shall all with Yasoda enter this huge lake of the serpent-king; we shall not be able to go back to Vraja. What is day without the sun, night without the moon, cow without a bull and Vraja without Krishna? Without Krishna we shall not return to Vraja, like unto a pond without water, in his absence, nor shall we roam in the forest.

In plain words: The grieving women say they will follow Yashoda into the lake and will not return home without Krishna. They ask what a day is without the sun or a night without the moon; their village without Krishna would be like a pond with no water.
