Bhagavad Gita 5.3

Krishna speaking to Arjuna

ज्ञेयः स नित्यसंन्यासी यो न द्वेष्टि न काङ्क्षति। निर्द्वन्द्वो हि महाबाहो सुखं बन्धात्प्रमुच्यते ॥

jñeyaḥ sa nitya-sannyāsī yo na dveṣhṭi na kāṅkṣhati nirdvandvo hi mahā-bāho sukhaṁ bandhāt pramuchyate

He should be known as a perpetual ascetic, who neither hateth nor desireth; free from the pairs of opposites, O mighty-armed, he is easily set free from bondage.

In plain words: Krishna says that a person who neither hates nor craves things is a true renouncer, even while living an active life. Such a person is not pushed around by opposites like pleasure and pain, so they are easily set free.
