अनादित्वान्निर्गुणत्वात्परमात्मायमव्ययः।
शरीरस्थोऽपि कौन्तेय न करोति न लिप्यते ॥
anāditvān nirguṇatvāt paramātmāyam avyayaḥ
śharīra-stho ’pi kaunteya na karoti na lipyate
Being beginningless and without qualities, the imperishable supreme Self, though seated in the body, O Kaunteya, worketh not nor is affected.
In plain words: Krishna tells Arjuna (called Kaunteya, son of Kunti) that the highest Self has no beginning and no qualities, and it never dies. Even though it lives inside the body, it does not act and is not touched by what happens.
