Shvetashvatara Upanishad 2.10

Let him perform his exercises in a place level, pure, free from pebbles, fire, and dust, delightful by its sounds, its water, and bowers, not painful to the eye, and full of shelters and caves.

In plain words: Meditation should be practiced in a clean, level place without stones, fire or dust. It should be a pleasant spot with soft sounds, water and shade, easy on the eyes, with places to shelter.
