Chandogya Upanishad 6.5.3

'Fire (i.e. in oil, butter, &c.) when eaten becomes threefold; its grossest portion becomes bone, its middle portion marrow, its subtilest portion speech.

In plain words: Rich foods like oil and butter, which carry fire, split three ways. The roughest part becomes bone, the middle part becomes marrow, and the finest part becomes speech.
