'On that altar the Devas (or prânas, represented by Agni, &c.) offer the sraddhâ libation (consisting of water). From that oblation rises Soma, the king (the moon).
In plain words: Into this heavenly fire the gods (the powers of life) pour an offering of faith, in the form of water. From this offering the moon, called King Soma, is born.
