Chandogya Upanishad 2.21.1

The hinkâra is the threefold knowledge, the prastâva these three worlds, the udgîtha Agni (fire), Vâyu (air), and Âditya (sun), the pratihâra the stars, the birds, and the rays, the nidhana the serpents, Gandharvas, and fathers. That is the Sâman, as interwoven in everything.

In plain words: A Sāman is a chant from the Vedas, and it has five parts. Here each part is matched with something in the universe: the three Vedas (sacred books), the three worlds, the gods of fire, air and sun, the stars, birds and light rays, and the serpents, heavenly singers called Gandharvas, and the spirits of ancestors. This shows the chant as woven into everything.
