Yagnavalkya said: 'He who dwells in the earth, and within the earth, whom the earth does not know, whose body the earth is, and who pulls (rules) the earth within, he is thy Self, the puller (ruler) within, the immortal.'

In plain words: Yagnavalkya says the inner ruler lives inside the earth and guides it from within, using the earth as its body, yet the earth does not know it. This inner ruler is your own deathless Self.
