← Yoga through the Perfection of Renunciation and Surrender

Bhagavad Gita 18.49

Krishna speaking to Arjuna

असक्तबुद्धिः सर्वत्र जितात्मा विगतस्पृहः। नैष्कर्म्यसिद्धिं परमां संन्यासेनाधिगच्छति ॥

asakta-buddhiḥ sarvatra jitātmā vigata-spṛihaḥ naiṣhkarmya-siddhiṁ paramāṁ sannyāsenādhigachchhati

He whose Reason is everywhere unattached, the self-subdued, dead to desires, he goeth by renunciation to the supreme perfection of freedom from obligation.

In plain words: Krishna says a person who is not clinging to anything, who controls themselves and has let go of desires, reaches the highest freedom by letting go.
