← Yoga through the Perfection of Renunciation and Surrender

Bhagavad Gita 18.2

Krishna speaking to Arjuna

श्री भगवानुवाच काम्यानां कर्मणां न्यासं संन्यासं कवयो विदुः। सर्वकर्मफलत्यागं प्राहुस्त्यागं विचक्षणाः ॥

kāmyānāṁ karmaṇāṁ nyāsaṁ sannyāsaṁ kavayo viduḥ sarva-karma-phala-tyāgaṁ prāhus tyāgaṁ vichakṣhaṇāḥ

Sages have known as renunciation the renouncing of works with desire; the relinquishing of the fruit of all actions is called relinquishment by the wise.

In plain words: Krishna says wise people call it renunciation when you stop doing actions driven by selfish desire. They call it relinquishment when you keep acting but let go of wanting the rewards.
