← Yoga through Understanding the Three Modes of Material Nature

Bhagavad Gita 14.20

Krishna speaking to Arjuna

गुणानेतानतीत्य त्रीन्देही देहसमुद्भवान्। जन्ममृत्युजरादुःखैर्विमुक्तोऽमृतमश्नुते ॥

guṇān etān atītya trīn dehī deha-samudbhavān janma-mṛityu-jarā-duḥkhair vimukto ’mṛitam aśhnute

When the dweller in the body hath crossed over these three qualities, whence all bodies have been produced, liberated from birth, death, old age and sorrow, he drinketh the nectar of immortality.

In plain words: Krishna says all bodies come from the three qualities. The soul living in the body can rise above them. Then it is free from birth, death, old age and sorrow, and it tastes a life that never ends.
