← Yoga through Distinguishing the Field and the Knower of the Field

Bhagavad Gita 13.7

Krishna speaking to Arjuna

इच्छा द्वेषः सुखं दुःखं सङ्घातश्चेतनाधृतिः। एतत्क्षेत्रं समासेन सविकारमुदाहृतम् ॥

ichchhā dveṣhaḥ sukhaṁ duḥkhaṁ saṅghātaśh chetanā dhṛitiḥ etat kṣhetraṁ samāsena sa-vikāram udāhṛitam

Desire, aversion, pleasure, pain, combination, intelligence, firmness; these, briefly described, constitute the Field and its modifications.

In plain words: Krishna adds that wanting, disliking, pleasure, pain, the body as a whole, awareness and steadiness are also part of the Field. Feelings and mental states belong to the changing body-mind, not to the true Self.
