The Gita in 18 days · Lesson 18 of 18

Arjuna stands up

We have reached the last chapter. In chapter 18, Krishna sums up everything: do your own duty, act without clinging, love God and trust him. Then he does something very respectful. He tells Arjuna to think it over and choose for himself.

Krishna doesn't force him. Even God, in the Gita, leaves the final choice to us.

And Arjuna answers. His confusion is gone. He says he remembers who he is now. His doubts have disappeared, and he is ready to do what is right.

Remember how the Gita began, with Arjuna sitting down in the chariot, his bow on the floor, saying "I will not fight." Now he picks up his bow and stands. Same battlefield, same problem. What changed is Arjuna.

That is the whole journey of the Gita. The outside situation doesn't change. The person inside it does. He learns who he really is, how to act without fear and how to trust something greater.

You can make the same journey with your own problems. Not by escaping them, but by facing them with a clearer mind and a steadier heart. Thank you for walking these eighteen days.

नष्टो मोहः स्मृतिर्लब्धा त्वत्प्रसादान्मयाच्युत। स्थितोऽस्मि गतसन्देहः करिष्ये वचनं तव ॥

naṣhṭo mohaḥ smṛitir labdhā tvat-prasādān mayāchyuta sthito ‘smi gata-sandehaḥ kariṣhye vachanaṁ tava

Destroyed is my delusion. I have gained knowledge through Thy grace, O Immutable one. I am firm, my doubts have fled away. I will do according to Thy word.

In plain words: Arjuna answers that his confusion is gone and he understands now, thanks to Krishna's kindness. He feels steady, his doubts are gone, and he will do what Krishna says.
